Shinbashi Enbujo Theatre (at TOKYO) Theatre Information
The graphic novel series ‘Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind’ in 7 volumes by the world-famous Hayao Miyazaki will be adapted for kabuki in a full-length production divided into the Matinee and Evening Shows.
He began to publish the work serially in the magazine “Animage” in 1982 and completed it in 1994. It was made into a movie in 1984 directed by himself while it was still being serialized and has been loved not only in Japan but also all over the world.
Please look forward to watching this epic tale transformed into kabuki in a production that will mark a new page in the history of Japanese theatre. It is sure to be a hot conversation topic.

STORY :
The huge industrial civilization was destroyed by the war called 'The Seven Days of Fire' and almost the entire earth is now covered with a vast Sea of Decay, which gives off noxious fumes and among which giant insects swarm. Nevertheless, the human conflict has not ended and two big countries, the Kingdom of Torumekia and the Dorok Principalities, continue to oppose each other.
The Valley of the Wind, a remote and small country of people who reads the wind, formed an alliance with Torumekia long ago. Nausicaä, the daughter of the patriarch, has come to know the Sea of Decay, loves and communicates with the giant insects and hopes to make clear how the toxic wilderness came into existence.
One day, in the small country named Pejitei which is also allied to Torumekia, a secret stone is discovered that can bring back to life the God Warrior who burned up the world in 'The Seven Days of Fire'. In order to obtain the secret stone, Torumekia destroys Pejitei and starts to wage war against Dorok.
By chance, Nausicaä obtains the secret stone. Defending the alliance, she fights against all the difficulties caused by the foolish war, the Sea of Decay and the giant insects to light a beacon of hope in an ebbing world.
