Brand New Kabuki Production “TOUKEN RANBU” Kyoto Minamiza Costume Exhibition
A kabuki costume exhibition is now being held at the Minamiza Theatre and will continue until May 6th 2024.
An exhibition of the costumes for the brand-new kabuki production, “Touken Ranbu”, is now being held at the Minamiza Theatre! You can see costumes and props used in the actual kabuki performance.
Additionally, you can enter inside of the Minamiza Theatre, which has the oldest history and tradition of any theatre in Japan with over 400 years of history.
There you can take pictures inside the theatre, and you can walk freely on the stage and along the hanamichi runway.
What is ”TOUKEN RANBU” ?
“TOUKEN RANBU” is a very popular online game released in 2016 in Japan. Players called ”Saniwa” fight against enemies with the famous ”Touken danshi”, sword-wielding spirits of “TOUKEN RANBU”. Having gained many fans, “TOUKEN RANBU” has been the focus of anime, performances and plays.
In July 2023, “TOUKEN RANBU” was performed as a new kabuki play in Tokyo.
