Live Streaming of the Brand-new Kabuki Production “LUPIN III” to 28 countries!
Shochiku Co., Ltd. will live stream the recorded footage of the brand-new kabuki production “LUPIN III”, with English subtitles to 28 countries and regions via ‘Kabuki On Demand’, its official online streaming service exclusive to kabuki performances. The streaming will begin on August 11 (Sun), 2024 at 9:00 PM (JST) live, and will be available on archive from the following day until August 18 (Sun) 11:59 PM (JST).
The kabuki performance in December was a great success and tickets were sold out. After receiving comments from many international customers, it has been decided to stream “Lupin III” online worldwide.

◆About “Lupin III”
Based on the original work by the popular manga artist Monkey Punch, the “Lupin III” series boasts numerous fans both domestically and abroad, with manga and TV anime at the forefront. Over the years, several masterpieces have been created through collaborations with other genres. In December 2023, it was adapted as a brand-new kabuki production at the Shinbashi Enbujo Theatre (Tokyo), and the story was newly written for that performance.
◆Available with English subtitles
Kabuki On Demand has so far distributed 9 classic kabuki plays with English subtitles or secondary audio in English, in order to enable overseas residents and inbound visitors to enjoy the traditional Japanese culture of kabuki more than ever.
And now, for the first time on Kabuki On Demand, the brand-new kabuki production “Lupin III” will be distributed live with English subtitles worldwide. Both live streaming and archive will be distributed in Japan, U.S., France, Italy and 24 other countries and regions around the world. Kabuki On Demand will be available in more areas, and we will deliver the charm of Kabuki to countries around the world through 10 performances, including Lupin III.

<Story>
This original story is set in the Azuchi-Momoyama period (the last third of the 16th century), in which the great and infamous thief, Ishikawa Goemon, lives. Lupin III is engaged in a fierce struggle for the gold seal of Himiko, a national treasure. To break that seal, two treasured swords are needed, and if the swords and the seal are together, it is said that one gains the power to rule the world. However, one of the swords was in the hands of Ishikawa Goemon, and he, too, was searching for Himiko’s gold seal. Mashiba Hisayoshi, the ruler of Japan, also seems to be looking for the gold seal, and Lupin’s arch-rival, Inspector Zenigata, is in pursuit of Lupin, Goemon and the others…
