To accompany the spring blossoms in Kyoto, the Minamiza Theatre welcomes you with performances from the world of "KANADEHON CHŪSHINGURA". Following the explanation, star actors of the younger generation will perform Acts 5 and 6, which depict the tragedy of the En'ya retainer Hayano Kanpei. In addition, there will be a brand new kabuki dance featuring the story of Acts 7 to 11 of the play.
"KANADEHON CHŪSHINGURA" is known as one of the three great masterpieces derived from the puppet theatre. Based on the historical incident known as the Akō vendetta that took place in the Edo period, the story depicts the forty-seven masterless samurai in their struggle for revenge. At the same time, it also portrays the different types of relationships among them. This is a masterpiece that has continued to fascinate people to this day.
