The picture book 'One Stormy Night' (Kodansha), written by Yūichi Kimura, has been very popular since its release in 1994, and is a bestselling series with a total of more than 3.5 million copies in print, including sequels. In September 2015, it was performed as kabuki at the Minamiza Theatre. The play attracted attention, as it retained the world of the popular picture book and incorporated many techniques and performances unique to kabuki theatre, such as the powerful 'tachimawari' (fight scene) of the wolf and goat. It was then performed at the Kabukiza Theatre in December 2016, and at the Hakataza Theatre in November 2018, and has been loved by many audiences.
