In December of 2023, a brand-new kabuki adaptation was staged at the Shinbashi Enbujo Theatre, earning widespread acclaim both in Japan and abroad. Now, nearly two years after its premiere, the long-awaited revival has been confirmed for the Minamiza theatre. The story is set in the Azuchi-Momoyama period. The master thief Lupin (Lupin the Third) and his partner Jigen Daisuke are after a legendary treasure known as 'Himiko's Golden Seal', a national treasure of immense value. To break the seal that protects the Golden Seal, two sacred swords—Oryūmaru and Meryūmaru—are required. It is said that whoever possesses both the seal and the swords will gain the power to rule the land. However, Meryūmaru is already in the hands of the infamous thief Ishikawa Goemon, who is also after Himiko's Golden Seal. Mine Fujiko, the woman Lupin is infatuated with, seems to know more than she lets on. Meanwhile, Mashiba Hisayoshi, the man who seeks to unify the nation, is also in pursuit of the seal.
