A new lineup for KABUKI ON DEMAND – “KYŌKANOKO MUSUME NININ DŌJŌJI” from March 22nd!
On March 22nd, 2024, KABUKI ON DEMAND will add “KYŌKANOKO MUSUME NININ DŌJŌJI” (with English secondary audio guides) to its lineup.
The official online streaming service exclusively for kabuki, is now available in these 10 countries and regions: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Taiwan, the U.K. and the U.S. Each video provides either English secondary audio guides or subtitles for worldwide fans to experience the allure of kabuki abroad.
In addition, KABUKI ON DEMAND is introducing a kabuki line-up related to “cherry blossoms”, including “KYŌKANOKO MUSUME NININ DŌJŌJI”, under the title “Kabuki Cherry Blossoms”. Please take a look at this page.

“NININ DŌJŌJI” is a variation of one of the greatest kabuki dance pieces, “KYŌKANOKO MUSUME DŌJŌJI”. It is performed here by two ‘onnagata’ female role specialists, Bandō Tamasaburō and Onoe Kikunosuke. Under the cherry blossoms in full bloom, the two dancers named Hanako change costumes, and skillfully dance portraying a maiden’s love in this beautiful performance.
